New York and New Jersey Bombing Suspect Caught

Ahmad Khan Rahami was named a person of interest connected to the explosions in New York City and New Jersey. Today, an alert was sent that police were seeking a man connected with the Saturday night bombing in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood. Authorities have identified him as Rahami, 28. It is believed that he is the man seen in surveillance videos of both scenes of the explosions – West 23rd Street and West 27th Street, where an unexploded device was found.

New York and New Jersey Bombing Suspect  Ahmad Rahami Caught

Ahmad was taken into custody after he was hospitalized due to a shootout with police in Linden, New Jersey. According to Bill Sweeney, an FBI official, Rahami has been linked  to the devices used in the New York and New Jersey explosions.

Bill de Blasio, New York City Mayor, believes the explosions were an act of terror. However, there is “no indication that there is a cell operating in the area or in the city,” Sweeney said. “We will continue to conduct investigative activity to ensure we completely understand Rahami’s social network. For that reason, I do not plan to answer specific questions about our techniques, or our knowledge of the devices.”

Rahami Caught After a Shootout With Police

The suspect was caught because of a silly mistake he made. He fell asleep in a hallway of a Linden bar. The owner of the bar reported a person who was disturbing the public peace and order. At about 10.30, police officers went to investigate the case and to wake up the person sleeping in the hallway. Soon enough, a police officer realized that the person was Rahami, the suspect that had been sought in the bombings. The moment Rahami saw the officer, he started shooting at the police officer. The only reason why this police officer is still alive is because he had his vest on.

He was taken into custody after he was injured in the shooting. Besides the police officer who was shot in his bulletproof vest, another officer was injured.

He was taken to a hospital in Newark. The extent of his injuries was not clear straight away, and he is undergoing surgery.

Even though he is caught, the investigation is still not over. Agents are still searching for other people who might be connected to Rahami and the bombings. Allegedly, federal prosecutors have already drafted charges against Rahami.
